ABOUT HOMEGROWN MIDWIFERY
Philosophy of care
At Homegrown Midwifery, I believe pregnancy and birth are natural, physiological, and deeply meaningful life events. Birth is a profound rite of passage, shaping women, partners, and families. It transforms couples as they step into parenthood—women drawing on their inner power, partners offering steady love and support, together emerging bonded and ready to meet their baby.
My practice is rooted in holistic, woman-centred care—supporting the unique physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of each family. My role is not to direct birth, but to gracefully hold space, to walk alongside you, offering guidance, knowledge, and reassurance while honouring your right to make informed choices. Continuity of care, well known to facilitate positive birth experiences, is at the heart of Homegrown Midwifery — ensuring you feel supported and empowered from pregnancy through birth and into the postpartum period.
As a Calmbirth® Educator, time and again I see how this preparation helps parents approach labour calmly and confidently. These skills extend beyond birth, offering strength and calm for the whole of parenthood, whether this is your first baby or your fifth. I am increasingly drawn to matrescence—the unfolding of motherhood—and supporting families to flourish without depletion. When mothers are well, the whole family thrives. My aim is to create a safe, nurturing space where your choices are honoured, your wellbeing is prioritised, and you can embrace pregnancy, birth and early parenthood with confidence, calm, and connection.
MEET YOUR MIDWIFE, KELLIE
An Endorsed Private Midwife, Calmbirth® Educator, mum of teenage boys, and lover of a slow, organic life.
Growing up on a wheat and sheep farm in NSW, I now live in the treetops of the Noosa Hinterland where a simpler way of life not only shapes me, but my midwifery: unhurried care that honours physiological birth and gives pregnancy, labour, birth and the early weeks at home the space, trust and deep respect they deserve. Over nearly 30 years experience across high-risk tertiary hospitals, remote rural practice and now private homebirth, I’ve learned to balance clinical skill with trusting the body’s instinctive ability to birth and the wisdom to recognise when additional support may be needed.
Since 2016, I’ve also been a Calmbirth® Educator, sharing tools that help parents release fear and approach labour with calm, confidence, and connection. These principles align closely with my own philosophy—trusting the body, honouring nature, and creating space for birth to unfold as it’s meant to. My love of yoga, meditation and Ayurveda continues to nurture the calm presence I bring to my work. People often describe me as grounded yet light-hearted—a hippy heart that honours the divinity in all.
Homegrown Midwifery is the expression of this journey: evidence-informed wisdom woven with trust, warmth, and wholehearted care for growing families.
